The number/lettering matched. I do recall reading the hatch lock is fairly common in the lock industry

When I bought my 85 RC it had no keys to the hatch lock. I took the cylinder out and took it to a local locksmith. He was able to lookup the code and funny enough it was actually an AMC key code. He cut me a couple keys for 10 bucks.
