What's a direct replacement for an Edelbrock 1906

Okay, thought it was an Edelbrock 1406 & was quickly corrected by the site experts who told me it was an Edelbrock 1906 Q-Jet.  The issue I am having is the Ramcharger wont start if I dont let it warm up completely before shutting it off unless I stick a screwdriver in teh carburator butterfly no matter how long I let it sit.  Now, I tried to adjust the electric choke & got it to move a bit without drilling out the rivits, but apparently not enough as I just had to go through the process of crawling up on the truck, removing the air cleaner & sticking the screwdriver in the butterfly once again to get it to start.  Now, I did find out I can order a rebuild kit, but it's $60.00 and doesn't appear to have another electric choke.  I call the Carburator pros in Denver, and they want $400.00 to rebuild it.  I am now thinking it's just as easy & possibly just as cost effective to buy another out-of-the-box carb (guessing it will cost $400.00 or so).  All the looking in the world has not produced another new 1906, and I also cant figure out what Edelbrock replaced that model with.  Can anyone offer suggestions??

All edelbrock replacement part numbers are holley 4150 in the appropriate CFM.
The 4150 is a double pumper, and most are square bore if I'm not mistaken. I don't think it's anywhere near an appropriate replacement.

Since you're running a Q-jet, the closest replacement would be a Q-jet. It certainly could be a 1906, but could be a 1905 also since thats the only one edelbrock ever made for Chrysler vehicles ( to replace thermoquads). That said i don't understand why buying a new carb will fix the problem. If it starts right up by doin the screw driver trick, its not a bad carb, its a bad adjustment. Its a GM carb, there should be a million websites helping to adjust the choke or choke linkage on this. Heck, a manual choke would only cost 30 bucks. JET and summit still sell Q- jets on the summit racing website. Did you call or email edelbrock about getting a service manual for the carb? or even finding out which one it is since they all looked alike (1901-1907)

#1906 (795 cfm) - Recommended for big-block Chevrolet/GMC
V8s-454 engines in truck applications only using a full electric
choke; 1980 to 1989.

Tried to call them tonight, but it was after 5:00, but have sent them an email.  In looking at the carb, the gaskets are seeping, so even with the choke issue, it still needs to be rebuilt.  I was just thinking about tossing this one & starting over, but cant find a 190X anything to replace it with.  Perhaps I'm making it harder than it is.

Jegs lists rebuilt ("reconditioned") 1902 and 1903, but at 750 and 795 cfm respectively, those seem a little big for a truck unless it's a big block.
