SO i went to ct for 4 days with my girl and finally got tired of the loose box so i put in my arg steering box

Man what a difference no
PLAY!!!!!

But i still have a problem the truck still "darts" at sudden times to the side lke a gust of wind pushed the truck

Someone told m its because im running 35" mudds and its the way they track and stuff that i should put back on my dual steering dampers and it will solve the problem

These tires have 1,000 miles on tghem all city driving This was the first long trip on them

Any ideas??? All Ball joints are new so are the tierods and the draglink

rotate tires front to back and take it for a drive, sometimes a tire can pull funny,i have found some success on cars,i dont really know how 35's behave to really suggest anything else.maybe a slight air pressure adjustment will help.

#3 ·
air is even across the board will rotate in the morning and tell you the results

#4 ·
Check your toe in for about an 1/8th inch (at the lip of the rims)...

Also check the tie rod for any side to side slack that would let the toe-in vary.

had it at the alightment shop yesterday i set it up and checked it myself since i know the owner it was dead on

Only thing that was weird is that my left camber is at 1 degree but i figured since its not adj it must have always been like that its nothing

everything is pretty new less then a year old even the draglink etc etc etc

Yes it's possible that it's the 35" mud tires. Alot of people don't realize that those big lugs can sometimes flex.

It's common on brand new big rig tires to have tire squirm because the lugs flex. It tends to make some of our rookie drivers uneasy (But you can get used to it)

You can play around alittle with tire pressure but until the tire wear down alittle you'll have to get used to them squirming.

well tommorrow im going to put in my duel stabilizers in hope thast helps lololol

I have a 75 w200 that I run 315/70/16 mtr, I did the front end conversion to a 75 k20 chevy[ all parts are new ball joints tie rod ends etc] and I also have a jump side to side when you go through a dip in the road . I have ran the 35 in tire for a while. when I had the alignment done I was told that because I have a 6 in lift that running angle sims to correct pinion angle had given me a negative caster angle. If anyone has heard this or done the same conversion let me know.

#10 ·
bump steer?doesent cross-over steering help this?there's a how -to regarding this.

#11 ·
well never put on my stabilizer CAN NOT fint the small bracket the one that bolts onto the center link so you can bolt it up to the shock

lololololololololol

#13 ·
my shaft is solid have a homemade shaft

#14 ·
well swaped the tires no change

Went to the local $x4 shop and picked up a new set of steering brackets for 25.00 helped

But before i put in the brackets i kept hearing a thunk upon jerking the wheel left to right

Had a friend do it while i checked everything guess what THE DAM NEW BOX was making the noise the output shaft was moving up and down

so i called ARG and they told me that the builder mush have set it up on the loose side and to perforn the adjustement on the top of the box

so all in all we will see now the box is tight and the steering damper is on and the tires are rotated

time for me to keep my fingers crossed and see how it turns out

#15 ·
well the box still had play in it so i had them send me a new one

Put it in today and filled and did all the little things and i turn the steering wheel to the left it flew left im like ok No effort steering LOLOL iturn it to the right nothing ????????????? use 2 hands and it turns slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

I call ARG again and they tell me its the flow control valve that it is in backwards !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

so here we go AGAIN i am starting to think i should have went with a stock box

At least i can say i am an expert at changing the box. I wouldnt mind if i didnt have to unbolt and move the radiator to get to one of the mounting bolts

#16 ·
ok so i checked the wheel bearings to see any weird signs on the races nothing and tightened them up to spec so

here is something running around in my head. Are our tucks known to have the problems that that chevys have with the front clip being weak where the gear box bolts up to ???????????????????????????????????????????????????

The only thing on the front end over 6 months old is the drag link which is like a year and a half old BUT it feels tight

Any more things i can try out ????????

Thanks all

#17 ·
better start planning the cross-over steering, did you put on a drop pitman arm or a block under the steering arm on the left knuckle?i did my 4"lift,installed my 35 "dunlop rover rvxt's and i have a wander every time i hit a dip in the road,i knew this was gonna happen, when i get my steering block i hope it improves.if not it's cross-over time.

#18 ·
see i dont think it has anythig to do with cross over steering It will do it On a straight and non bumpy road !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drop pitman 4" did not use a block Heard 2 many bad things about them getting loose

#19 ·
this is a tough one, recheck all your suspension hardware?when did this start, with the new tires?what pressure you running? and how wide are your rims?

#21 ·
running 32-34 psi and i am running 10" rims to tell you the truth i felt something was "not right" even when i had the 33" but when i went over to the 35" you can feel it much more i rechecked all the rear hardwear and the front u bolts all good

today im gonna check the other wheel bearing and the shackles

So are out trucks known for the "weak" front clips where the box mounts like the older chevys ????? no right we have a different frame setup

#22 ·
You probably would have seen it by now R&Ring the box twice, but check the frame for cracks around the steering box. Watch the frame closely as you have a helper turn the steering wheel lock-to lock.

#23 ·
No Dodge trucks are not known for the frame to crack like the Chevys do. They can crack though, just not as likely as a Chevy.

#24 ·
well dont know what made me do it or relize it but when the truck is off and you turn the wheel i get 1/8 slack untill to gets hard !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 so im like WTF i get out and turn the steering shaft by hand and look the play is in between the input shaft and the output shaft !!!!!!!!!!!!111

Saturday im gonna go to autohore and pick up a STOCK reman box and see

Im starting the AGR boxes are crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#26 ·
did that didnt help i thnk it is made to have a tiny bit of slack

i checked 3 different reman boxes today same results with "slack" so i am ruling out the box

Going to check the front u bolts tommorrow
