So i tore apart my steering column once again and put locktight on the bolts thinking that was my problem before causing the wheel to move around and put locktight on the bolts.

I put everything together back again and its still the same! so i took it apart and i see like 3 ball bearings fell out and that shaft is the culprit.

Now my question, can i replace those bearings relativly easy and do they even sell them? Any special tools and what not? I dont want to have my truck down for along time or anything...

Thanks in advance!

Yes, tilt column. The bearings that surround the shaft where the steering wheel bolts too.

Ok, the one with all the grease. There may be several ways to persue this.

1. I will email you the parts book pages for the column and you can refer to it.
2. These bearings may be available from a local GM dealer since it's their column. I just found out one of the pitman arm nuts and lockwasher are avaialble from them at a real good price.
3. Looks like Mopar has a "kit" for this in the parts book.
4. If you can remove the entire bearing assembly and find a part number stamped on it you may be able to cross it over at NAPA or a bearing supply house.

Im going to call gm and dodge up tommorow what see what they say. Its the upper bearing i guess that i need. Its a plastic housing also, so i doubt their is anything stamped on it, atleast i didnt notice anything when i poped it out on my previous steering column.

Thanks for the diagrams chump, your help is really appreciated!! :)

Will update tommorow.

Called dodge and they gave me part #4147364 upper bearing kit. $82.35. They didnt know what the kit contains of, and they didnt have it in stock.

He said its for years 1951-1993.

Im going to go down there and order it and will let you know more when i receive the kit in about a week.

i know and i am sorry, on a side note, if the diagrams steveo sent you didnt help let me know and i will send you some others.

the good thing though is usually anything that steveo does or finds out ends up helping abut 100 others by the time he is done.

sorry once again for the hijack

Received the bearing kit. It had all the stuff to do it. I pulled the bearing out and replaced it with the new one and it works great. No more steering wheel bouncing around!

I took LOTS of pics and will put together a how to if anyone wants me to. It was preety easy though. Comes with  bearings and the other stuff and yeah.

Thank you dodge! And you guys!
