Just thought I'd ask a q. I'm lookin for an OD auto tranny for a Jeep 360. It's got an AMC 727 in it now. What years will work? I'm assuming that prolly the 90-93 will work with a switch in the dash, just like the Dodge pick-ups, but need to be sure. It's for an 82 Jeep J20. Unfortunately, Mopar dropped the full-size Jeep except the wagonneer.

A Dodge tranny wont fit w/o a change in the bellhousing. Even though AMC used Dodge trannies they used their own bolt pattern for the bellhousings.

Yes, I'm aware of that. What I need to know is what years Wagonner can I swipe an O/D tranny out of for a non-O/D truck and hook up a simple switch. Knowing that these are Dodge trannies since the early 80's, made to bolt up to AMC 360, I would assume the Wagoneer got O/D changes the same years Dodge trucks did. Is this assumption correct?

the waggoneers never got the o/d tranny, the only way to put an o/d automatic behind an amc v8 is to buy an adapter that allows you to use a gm th700r.advance adapters pn 716138+a special flexplate which varies by the year of your engine.if you use the gm transfercase you will have to switch to a '79 back front axle so that your front pumkin and front output shaft will be on the same side.call advance adapters, they'll hook you up.go to the international fullsize jeep association website they can tell you anything you want to know

I don't recall the wagoneer having an OD trans. But if they did then it should bolt up to the block ok. You will possibilly have to fab a trans mount.

uh sledge there were no 93 wagoneers.there was only one '92 wagoneer made and its in the chrysler museum.'91 was the last year you could buy a full size jeep and all '80 up full size jeeps had either tf999's or tf727's

sledge i looked at the ad:thats not really a grand wagoneer, even if the nameplate says so,its a grand cherokee with woodgrain, and has no connection to the earlier grand wagoneer except for the nameplate.the a518 was used in the later grandcherokees, but only with the dodge 318/360 engine which doesnt help him.the aisn/warner o/d automatic used behind the 4.0 motor will bolt up to his engine but isnt strong enough his application
