If this is from your mid-80's RC's, the condensor is only to help eliminate ignition interference with the radio. I eliminated mine years ago, no problems with interference.

 

Yes it's the condenser from the original canister coil hooked to the + coil terminal.  I started thinking the gm large cap hei systems also had a condenser under the cap so wasn't sure what to about it.
