FLAMING RIVER STEERING SHAFT ???

Truck in question is a 1991 Dodge/Cummins 2WD D250 W/Tilt.

Just above the "rag"-joint is a PIN that obviously holds the rag-joint onto the upper portion of the shaft.

Does anyone know if I can use this shaft; and, has anyone got this shaft regardless of vehicle model ?? :

http://www.flamingriver.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=212/category_id=120/home_id=85/mode=prod/prd212.htm

On a different 1990 Dodge/Cummins non-tilt, the upper portion of the rag-joint was an integral part of the shaft itself and therefore not removable, so I used the Borgeson rag-joint shaft on it.

Thanks for your time and input. 8)

IIRC 79-93 2x4 and 4x4 use the same steering box...

79-93 4x4 used the "same" steering column with the differance being if the rag joint coupler is removable or not...

When you do crossover steering on a 4x4 it requires you to move the steering box to the 2x4 position, which then requires you to use a Borgenson/Flaming River shaft (modified?) OR a 2x4 steering shaft OR cut your stock shaft down ~4"...

I do not think your engine makes any differance in this... And I am not certain if ithere is any consistancy between tilt and non-tilt columns as to if the rag joint coupler is removable or not. Borgenson also sells both rag joint and double U joint shafts, however they do not specify "tilt/non-tilt" just "removable coupler or non-removeable coupler"... Which further leads me to believe there is no rhyme or reason to which ones got the removable coupler...

SO I am going to say YES you can use this shaft, BUT you may need to modify it slightly (IE cut it down a few inches).

I have this shaft for my '77 W200.
It can be modified if necessary, but not really that much. You can shorten the shaft and change the ends.

When I needed my shaft, I contacted FR with my questions. They were more than helpfull and customized the shaft for my personal needs (different length, different box connection).
