This motor came out of a motor home and I have plans to put it in a 82 Dodge 3/4 ton. However befor I even start I need to know if I can get parts to replace or convert the water pump/fan assy. I sure the pump is way too big for what I'm using it for and also the fan would be higher than the hood on my truck.
Is this something I can deal with or should I just forget it and resell it.

Thanks, Bill

The industrial engines water pump uses what would be freeze plugs on a car or light truck engine.  You can just remove the water pump and install freeze plugs.  Everything else will bolt up.  The industrial engines only turn about 3000-3200 RPM's, and are only about 8:1 - 8.5:1 compression.  If you're looking just for torque to tow or haul, it'll be O.K.  If it's performance you're looking for, you'll have to change the heads, cam, distributor, ect. to get more rpm's.

the industrial engine is extreely wide in its stock form. the block is the same as any RB block. the heads have extensive water jackets in them.  this is what  what makes it WIDE like a HEMI. you may find that the dumps on the manifolds will not clear the frame. you may need to change the heads and intake to a set of B/RB stuff..

Mine is not any wider than the 440 I have... Its just the exhaust manifold which are specific to the heads. And the compression is more like ~7.5 on the high side. They are industrial engines. Simple as that.

As far as putting one in, The water pump form an RB will work. And yes this engine will not be happy to see any rpm's.

I'm not sure what the compression is since they are 1970 engines before the really large chamber heads.
