I have a 318 with a 2bbl at the moment. Im in the process of switching over to a 4bbl larger cam headers etc. I just purchased an edellbrock performer intake brand new from jegs http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/2176/10002/-1?parentProductId=751399#moreDetails Im wondering if I made the right choice keeping in mind that I dont need to worry about the egr or emmissions equipment because in my state it does not require the vehicle to go through emissions. My main concern is the the port size in the heads are different on a factory 2bbl then a factory 4bbl and that the intake I purchased will only replace a factory 4bbl intake. Any reassurances would be greatly appreciate. Joe

I've seen this done before with success , it probley won't show much in the power gain dept . But they did work , you could always do a port job on the heads to the intake . Youtube will have videos on this .

that intake is NOT designed for the SMALL 318 heads and the motor will be a DOG
2176 is most definitely for a stock 2bbl headed 318. That's why it exists.

Basically what I got out of the original post is that he's worried the 2176 is a direct replacement for the 318 4bbl (360) intake, which it isn't. It is meant to mount a 4bbl on a 2bbl 318/273.

if you click his link and read what it says its for a motor with a 4bbl already and is NOT for a 2bbl motor / read below

Designed for street 318-340-360ci Chrysler V8s. This intake manifold is a stock replacement/street legal part for 318-360ci V8s with OEM 4-bbl. carb.; 1966-72 (1973 non-CA) except stock equipped EGR. (Intake manifold p/n 350-3776 is a stock replacement/street legal part for same V8's with OEM 4-bbl carb; 1972-87.)

Port dimensions are same. Difference is EGR versus non-EGR. Have (used) both on either. Certainly meant much more for 2bbl 318 heads than for a 340/360.

Exactly and i dont have to worry about egr or emissions equipment because the trucks considered and antique. Thats why when you go to the fit guide on jegs for this part ramchargers dont come up. they sell another intake with egr meant to replace the stock intake with all emisasions equipment.

{agree} with dodge boys. that manifold has the 340/360 ports, not the 318 size ports he needs to match his factory 2 bbl heads. IMO and others, he bought the wrong intake for his app..
So which was the right one? 2176 and 3776 differ only based on smog equipment.

I've run these several times in both forms. 318, 340, and 360. The ports are smaller than a stock 360-4 intake, and both are narrower than Mag ports while the 360 ports are taller than the Mag ports.

The RPM is meant for 360s, 340s, and 318-4s with 360 heads. Using a 2176/3776 causes a port mismatch that restrictions head flow since the intake's ports are smaller than the heads' as they were meant for a 273/318. That port mismatch is done to save tooling on mild intakes and to try to improve fuel economy.

The Performer is a dog on 4bbl heads compared to the stocker after 3,500 or so. So mostly just passing. Overall it's a pretty strong torque intake for a 318- the aluminum and the dual waterneck patterns and all the a/c bolts make it a very good intake for a basic 318 2bbl to 4bbl swap.

I stand corrected,  that is the right manifold for a 318 2bbl  to 4bbl.  The manifold discription is where the problem lies and it is missleading.  There never was a factory 318 4bbl with small port heads.  The facrory 318s used the later large intake port with small exhaust port 360 head.. .

EDIT: sorry, 340 beat me by a few seconds to correct himself above, no need for the rest of my post

Both of you are incorrect, and that is not a matter of opinion, that is simple fact stated in the description itself.

Performer: Port exit dimensions: .97'' x 1.95''
Performer RPM: Port exit dimensions: 1.01'' x 2.17''

Plain and simple, they do not make an edelbrock "performer" that is correct for 340s, 360s, or factory 318-4V. They ONLY make a small port version for 273-318, BUT since it will technically bolt up to any of the LA engines, they claim the entire range. It is NOT the large port version, again, no such intake exists with the name "performer". Edelbrock doesn't make a stock-type intake for large port engines anymore. Older TM series or others, do not count. Only talking about performer/performer rpm/airgap/torkerII. Mopar Performance does, weiend might, and offenhauser might.

Really appreciate all the information guys. the intakes on its way already. Unfourtunatley I come from a family where chevelles and bel airs rule the garage so my dad just wnated me to make sure and see what you guys thought. What else will i need to have a holley carb work  i know there are linkages and such needed just not sure which ones.

^That's not mine, that is another members. If I had to choose between cruise control and having a linkage that adjusts properly under a variety of top end configurations, I am going to choose the aftermarket linkage every time. If I really demanded cruise, linkage modifications  or aftermarket "universal" cruise servo would be in order.

And with regards to the chevelles and bel airs kicking around your garage , they might be faster than your 318 , but who's gonna boost them when the time comes . {cruise}

I'm more of a stock linkage person, since you can use it with any carb, stock or non.
Disagree.

While stock will work, it doesn't work well with aftermarket carbs and it is best to do some modifications. My stock linkage put the cables at weird angles and also prevented my carb from reaching WOT. Aftermarket linkages (like the Lokar above) are far more universal.

The photo above is of my setup. That same configuration was also used on the Edelbrock I had before the Demon. It transferred over flawlessly. The factory setup did not transfer over flawlessly when I removed the stock carb and went with the Eddy originally.

It's been done with a large port manifold

You can use your factory cruise & throttle cable with this & the kickdown kit has all the correct ratios & uses 90% Chrysler parts available at the dealer  The cable being a 92 TBI 360 van part

That smaller hole in the front of that cad plated piece is where the original cruise lever pins in
