No.

When using a 5 speed cummins, there is only one easily used passenger side drop. That would be the NP205 behind a 5 speed. 29 spline oddball.

No you cannot convert the getrag to common 23 spline used in gassers and cummins automatics.

we have a 91 CTD 727 205 set up.  found a real screaming deal on a 5 speed trans out of a 92 CTD 4x4 and hoped that the 205 would bolt to the 5 speed.

Ask the owner of the 5 speed where the transfer case is ???

Chances are, if he is keeping the engine and transfer, but selling the trans, it must be junk?

My point exactly. You don't spend over $1000 on various conversion parts just to end up with the same basic thing.

It would be like swapping out a 727 for a th400....they are both of relatively similar strength, and one does not offer a very distinct functional advantage over another (like gear ratio, number of gears, ect ect), so you would really have to question anyone that did the swap.

Back to your 205. For about $900, you can convert your 23 spline 205 to 29 spline. New parts and machining. The coupler alone is $200, $500 for new input shaft, some more for bearings and gaskets, then add machining to bore out the input diameter on a mill.

It may be cheaper to repair (or scavenge for parts ;)) as opposed to the above outlined $900ish conversion of a 23 spline 205.

1 persons idea of kaput may be some leaks, or a little noise. On the otherhand, enquire about my step-brothers pile of 205s, and he will gladly show you several with holes where gears exploded through the side of the case. Clearly much less usable. ;D

With the hard parts (coupler and input) costing $700 new, $50 for an otherwise junk case may be worth it if those 2 parts can be salvaged.

Otherwise, back to http://www.car-part.com/ to find a suitable case, or craigslist a truck?
