Will a 16.1" tire fit on a 16" wheel?

I have heard that 16.5" tires will fit a 16" wheel, but claim it isn't safe, even though they fit and air up with no leaks.

So I assume a 16.1" tire will fit a 16" wheel, but would it be safe? What about a 16" beadlock, seeing that the safety bead is no longer used on the outside portion of the wheel (the tire mounts outside the rim and is clamped down by the beadlock). What about for trail only use?

So Marty, exactly how much does your truck weigh? I bet it still weighs more then mine :) Even if it doesn't, I bet I toast you in the mud drags at Ram Jam, in my big heavy truck and all :)
Lol the weight the tires support is alot different then the weight the motor has to turn, right now the truck is 6900 but it's on a slow diet.
But a 6900 lb truck can out accellerate a 4000 lb truck that has 150lb wheels, we'll just have to see the theory in action.

My RC has 150 lb tire and wheel combo on it (ask Gmule he mounted them) the truck weighs about 6000lbs. I'll race you crew cab Marty. ;D
Hey we can all try out the mighty crew and it's lighter weight theories and then we can all see the difference, i really don't race against other Mopars, this is just a weight test between similar vehicles
