The 70's truck had 16x5.5 wheels with 5 on 4.5 small pattern optional from the factory. Not very wide at all. You could probably get some wide ones custom made
I would love to have a set of plain steel 16" 5 on 4.5" wheels. Keep us posted if you find any.
On the topic of wheels, how can I tell if my RC's wheels are the 15x8's? I know that sounds like a stupid question, but what points do you measure from? Mine are roughly 8" from bead to bead, and I believe they are original to my 75 RC. william
Parts book for 74-77 shows a 16x5.00x4.5, 5 stud that used a 6.50-16-C Tire...try searching around at www.car-part.com there are some listed there for older RC's an 1/2 ton trucks. I thought this may be a size used on the Sno Commander/Fiter?
You measure from bead to bead on the rim that is where you find the width of the wheel where the bead makes it's seal, not the outer most lip that kinda bends but the flat part just below the lip
