New guy to the forum, I hope that someone will be able to help me with my Ramcharger, I bought the other day. I pulled the codes from it and had the following: 15, 37,35. The 15 and 37 are related to the tranny so I crawled under it and low and behold the tranny has been replaced with an earlier model  I know this cause the distance sensor and PTU solenoid plugs are hanging with no place to plug them in.

Question what is the proper tranny for this R/C? or how can I locate this info? I have the FSM on the way (7-10 days) and access to AllDataDIY and I haven't been able to locate what the original tranny was.

TIA

It probably had an A518 auto overdrive in it, which is just a 727 with an OD unit added to it. What probably happened was the original tranny went bad and the owner put a regular 727 in it's place. I would also look at the transfer case and see what is in there. It should have a NP241 but may have been changed to a NP208 at some time. You can tell waht transfer case it has by looking at the plate on the back of teh case.

The NP241 was also used with the 727. That's what my '88 has.

Chris is probably right on the scenario.. I found a 4x4 Dak in town I was trying to buy that had a bad tranny in it.. and I was going to pull the 4spd AT & transfer case and just use an old 727 to make it go again. On a 4x2.. I'd be even more inclined to believe someone would do that.. maybe swap an older tranny mount.. and get a longer driveshaft.. and it's together with one less gear. Most people prefer to go the other way.. But often we build the direction our budgets demand.
