I had to replace the speedometer head on my '70 Fury, since the head is out, I checked the cable and what ever they lubed it with last is real sticky now. I think this might be why the speedo jumps around at lower speeds. I was going to clean it with brake cleaner and lube it with grafite, or what is saposed to be used.

I actually bought some speedo lube from the auto parts store. It looks like liquid graphite to me.

My dad came up and he had a 1 pound jar of grafite powder, so dumped some of that down the cable.
