What exactly is a Vacuum Amplifier? I've only seen one on my truck, and I'm pretty sure it isn't working correctly. The connections are all messed up (the rubber addapter the hoses run into is falling apart). Is this an important part? If so, why can't I find one in any parts store in Idaho? If it's not important, how do I bypass it? My trucks vacuum lines are a mess, and I'm trying to fix the last owners handywork. Thanks all.

Keep in mind this goes against all logic to say vacuum amplifier, but the idea is to amplify the vacuum signal to make it strong enough to operate the EGR valve.

So this is an important part? Or is it just more EPA crap that adds tubing/wiring to my truck? Could I (in theory) just remove all the parts in the diagram that cutthroat posted a link to up above? If I should leave it on, can anybody point me in the right direction as to where to find one?

Thanks guys, your help is really appreciated
