My a/c compressor makes noise when it turns (even with a/c off, it will cycle on and off...is that normal?). Also, I get an rpm drop when it cycles on. If I just unplug the connector, will that hurt anything?
Nope, it won't hurt anything... It'll set a code though. If it's making noise, the clutch bearing is probably going. It will also cycle if the defroster is on, not just the A/C, FYI. How much do the RPM's drop when it kicks on? It's normal for it to drop a little because it's a lot of load on the engine.
