I never knew what they looked like until I bought my 77 earlier this year. The top had never been taken off. But I can say the seals are definitely not in that good of shape. LOL
Well they would definately need some persuation to stay on the rails but thats to be expected for sitting in a box for many years..
Here are some pics.
I believe the gasket would be flipped over..(or not) ?? but wanted you to be able see the contours either way.
My gaskets are adhered to the top. At least they didn't come off the top when I took it off. But if I recall, yes, the ribs faced the bed rail. So yes, I think you have them reversed, but understand you are just showing us the contour.
