i was slowing down at a red light the other day and it turned green and the cars started to go but when i pushed the gas there was no power, it was stuck in like 4th gear??? so i pulled into subway shut it off and went in and ate. the truck was fine the rest of the day. then on my way home from work it stuck in 1st when i started going. so i pulled over put it in neutral then drive and started again and it was still in1st. so i rolled a little farther and i could feel it trying to do something and it was fine for a while but then got stuck in high gear again. my mechanic says it could be a "checker valve" that they have that clogs up. he says the first thing he is gonna do is drill that out cause he did it to his along time ago and has never had any problems with it. anyone have any ideas on what it might be?

Get it flushed Immediately and use Lucas Oil Tranny Fluid Stabilizer, and fill it with B&M full Synthetic Tranny, should give it another 30K........ Dont use Chrysler Tranny Fluid!

Using ATF +3 in Chrysler trannies is very important. I haven't tried using any synthetic stuff in them yet. Although members on http://dtw.truckmoxie.com/ swear by using AMSOIL in the Chrysler trannies.

Don't have your transmission flushed. Flushing transmissions has been known to dislodge deposits and get them stuck in places such as your valve body where it causes problems. I would first change your fluid and filter and adjust your bands. If that dont fix it. Then drop the valve body and have it completely cleaned out and inspected. The problem seems valve body related to me. Your tranny isn't in need of a overhaul yet it seems.

I second that, do NOT use anything but ATF+3 or +4 in Chrysler OD trannies. It is a generally accepted FACT, that if you don't, you WILL ruin your tranny, not just a maybe.
