If the diameter and bracket alignment are correct, I don't see how it could be wrong. I will keep track of this and go out and measure my dipstick after the sun comes up.
Tranny dipstick...

I lost my tranny dipstick while wheeling this weekend. don't ask me how that happens. I was giving it hell out there for sure. Will the dipstick from my old smallblock bellhousing 727 tranny be the same length and overall size as the one in the T/D I have now with the bigblock bellhousing and 727 tranny? I'd like to avoid the whole fire thing we had going this weekend when the fluid bounced around enoungh to get on the headers and burst into flames..

Should be the same stick. Only difference between BB & SB 727's is the bolt pattern where it mounts to the engine.
All the sticks I have access to are BB's. They all look to be about 18 - 19 inches long and bolt to the bellhousing.

I got a spare one here just needed to be sure it'll reach the bottom of the pan and give me the right fluid amount when I check it.
Something you might want to watch for at the wreckers.....I used a dipstick and tube from a van. I do a lot of water crossings and didn't like how low the factory tube sat. Way easier to reach now too. The handle for the dipstick is above and a little in front of my alternater.

As for the question yes all standard car/truck dipsticks should
be the same length
