Here's a '75 Trailduster that my younger brother, Cal, recently bought for $200.
The TD has a good 440, and a 727 that needed a rebuild... bad. Despite that, it was able to drive itself onto the trailer... barely. The seller kept the Holley carb, and the TD came with a points ignition that was basically hot wired in as the wiring was so bad, none of it worked.
The main plan is to rebuild the tranny, and swap the 440 and tranny into Cal's '77 W200 (seen on my web page).
Actually, I had gone and looked at this thing with McGuyver, told my brother about it and he bought it site-unseen. So I went and picked it up for him in Ogden Utah.
We pushed it up my driveway, into the shop, then surveyed the task ahead.
So the strip down began.
I even got Cal to get his hands dirty.
His first 440.
Yes, I got dirty too.
The top was rusted beyond help, and had to be pryed off.
Just about stripped clean.
And ready to go to the scrap yard. Its free to anyone before Thursday.
We pulled the axles and tank last night. And we finished the little details tonight.
This project only took just over a week working Saturdays and after work. They come apart a lot faster than they go together.
