will a 72 D100 tailgate swap right onto my 89 D100 an vice versa

an what is the differences between a 74-81 R/C tailgate an its counterpart trucks

I am not positive but i do not think a RC gate will work ona truck or vice versa . But as far as tailgates on trucks any will work from any yr pretty much cept for a few yrs . Like usaid the 74 - 80 then the 81-88 89 -93 is what will match but they all will fit I think .

The difference is the the gate latches. the 72-80 latches to a slot that is welded to thebed it kind of looks like the same way the door to your house latches. The gate for the 81-93 latches to a striker post like the one your door to your truck latches to.

To put a 70's gate on an 80's you would have to weld on the tabs for the gate to latch.
