ok green doesnt actually hook to the distributor, it will hook to the negative side of your coil, the reason they state that it goes to distributor is that some vehicles (notably chebbies) have a hookup at the distributor for the tach. most dodges i have seen and worked on dont have this so you hook it to coil instead.

for the white, i usually hook that into the headlight fuse, also for the red i usually hook that into a switched power source so it is only powered when vehicle is actually on, ground should be self explanatory

hope that helps

Yep, the green "sensing" lead goes to Coil Negative, which is the black wire with the yellow stripe. Also, I'm sure you've already done this, but make sure the switch on the back of the tach is set for 8 cylinders... ;D

normal idle should be set at 750 and fast idle is usually around 1200-1500.

as far as the air pump, as long as you make sure all of the stuff to it is plugged off and it isnt going to violate any of your emmisions checking if oyu have it, then you can toss it.
