the t/a heads only differ int he rockers, pushrods, & pushrod holes. the pushrod holes have been relocated slightly to allow for more porting (note: they were not ported from the factory. they were just modified to make it easier to port out). the rockers will only fit a t/a motor (they have a larger offset). the pusrod are made just for the t/a motors. for street aplication there is no performance reason to have t/a heads (you just don't need to port the heads that big).

Cheap enough to get and do what with? The T/A head is modeled after the w-2 in it's rocker gear set-up but is esentially a j head not a x head

Price the T/A gear before you start playing. Not cheap last time I checked.

the ta stuff is hard to find for sure, last set i had when i worked at the machine shop ended up just like said above, they cast the intake runner different so they could be hogged out more for porting., so the intake rocker was offset 3/8 inches away from the centerline, i gave my set to my uncle and he ended up using them on a ta cuda, although they are kinda cool as they are adjustable they are not any real power builders. you can do the same thing with standard j heads or even edelbrocks easily. heck we even modified a set of gm roller rockers to fit the shafts so we coudl use roller tipped rockers on the ta when we played with them, not too hard to do. anyhow good luck either way
