If you have read the reviews on the Cool Blue headlights, and you think those made a huge difference, then you really need to go to Autozone ;D They now carry Sylvania SilverStar headlights. They have them in the typical 9003-9007 bulbs, but they also have them in standard sealed beam lights too! They are kind of pricey at $19.99/each (this was for the 9000 series), but they are well worth it.

I purchased these lights yesterday, and installed them just at dusk. I then made a road trip over to another member's house. The difference between these and the Cool Blues is like night and day. The Cool Blue lights are only rated at 55/60w. These are rated at 90/100w, but only actually use 55/60w, so they are still street legal, and require no wiring upgrades. If you do a lot of night driving on poorly lit roads, I highly recommend these lights.

I was told they were NOT dot approved! Ok, now that I said that, how many of our trucks actualy are? ;D
Well, they say it on the package that they are. I may have to double check that, but I'm pretty sure. Why would autozone not sell them if they aren't? ;D

Randall
same reason advance sells them, they make $$ for them
Dunno, never read the box, just what one of the guys at advance told me
Do they have nipples?
This is just the 9003 bulb. The conversion kit that Autozone sells does not have them. Of course, the conversion kit is just a 6054 housing with a hole in the center that holds a 9003 bulb.

The SilverStar headlights are Federal DOT approved. Autozone would not sell them otherwise. If your state or city does pass an ordinence prohibiting them then your local Autozone won't carry them.

They will sell them, but they must be marked for off-road use only.

Hmmm? $10 refund if you print out the coupon at their site. Expires 6/30/2003. I might try a set of these. Thx
Hey Guys!! I'm new to this board and was lookin around when I found this post.

I am looking to get these bulbs for my 1996 Ram and I am glad to hear they are well liked!

I thought you might like to know that I saw these today at the local Walmart! They were the 9004 and 9007 bulbs that I saw and I'm not sure if they carry the sealed beams.

The 9004 and 9007 bulbs were $38.00 for the 2pak, if I remember right! I will be getting mine this week.

I have a 96 Ram with the 99-01 4-bulb clear headlights that are relay wired to the battery so I need 4 bulbs. It has all 4 bulbs on high and low beam!!

If they are bright with 2 bulbs, just imagine how bright a 4- bulb stup will look!!! ;D

Just thought you'd like to know to check your Walmat first! With the rebate from their site that's an even better price! ;D

Heheheh.....nice to see a person who likes Wal-Mart. They are few and far between on this board it seems. Now...

Unless the store you were in had them on an in-store sale, they should be $48 and some change for the two pack. Now, if you want to save about $8, check out Autozone, because I got my 9003's there for $20 each, individually. I've told and told my Automotive mgr we need to comp them, but she's not listening. Chris's company is beating mine. Aaaargh!! ;D And no, as of right now we don't have the sealed beam lights. Only Autozone has them from what I've seen.

If you have 4 of these going, plus those piaa's, I really don't want you to brightlight me. I think the reason you have a 4 bulb setup is that the 9007 only have the high beam, while 9003, 9004 have high and low. I think. Whatever you do, make sure you get them adjusted right, or you could really blind people with just your low beams.

LOL, 'bout time ;D

Yeah, we have the capsule headlight for $19.99 each and the sealed beam's for $24.99 a piece. We only have a couple of part numbers on the sealed beams but one of them is for the later RC's and trucks.

Chris
dodge88, I'm not a fan of Wally World either, but where I live there is not much else that isn't a drive.... I just happened to see them while browsing the auto parts section.

As for the price of the 2-bulb packages; at my local Walmart they were $37.73 and not on sale! I suppose they could be different in other stores, but I'd look before getting them elsewhere!

As far as blinding people goes, I have not even been flashed since the mod. The PIAAs fogs only come on with low beam and lay a pattern close in and to the side.

The stock 99-01 Sports with 4-bulbs use the 9007 on the outside bulb and they are on with high and low. The 9004 is the inside bulb and they only come on with high beams.

Mine are both on all the time and they draw from relays and get full voltage!!

Definately better than stock!!
Well, I guess I didn't type out my post to clearly. I'm one of the few "fans" of Wal-Mart here on the board. One of the main reasons being: they pay my salary, and quite well at that.

We just lowered our prices down to $37.73. Evidently the price was changed, and no one changed the labels. Local Autozone still has them for $19.99 per singe bulb, so now we're cheaper. Eat your heart out Chris ;D Don't feel bad though. What I can't get from my store in the form of auto parts and fluids and such, I get from Autozone. I'll even get stuff there that we sell sometimes, because I don't like going into my store too much when I'm off. See, you scratch my back I scratch yours. ;D Oh yeah, you need to tell your superiors to start carrying Seafoam. That's the only thing I need to go into O'Reilly's for... ;D

Randall
dodge88,
I don't have anything against Walmart.

I have some friends that work at the local distribution center :)

Walmart just seems to take over and eliminate the competition, which isn't great from the consumer's point of view...

Kmart closed up their store and now there is no second choice...more people out of work and another building sitting empty! Kmart was also building a huge huge huge distribution center near me, and when they went belly up, it just sat there for 2 years. It's an enormous building! Looks like a place that would build airplanes.

Now Target has bought the unfinished building, and they will actually be adding on to it; now it will be even bigger!!! Supposedly one of the largest in the northeast! We really need those jobs here bad too! It would be nice if Target would build a store here as well and at least give us a choice that doesn't include a 50mi round trip!!

Anyways, we shop at Wally World regularly and they have the best prices that I have found on the SilverStars!! I don't wish them ill, just some competition! Without it we all end up getting screwed in the long run!

Both bulbs for $37.73 at Walmart!! and a $10.00 rebate on the Sylvania site until the end of june!

Believe it or not, we actually want the competition, too. It keeps you on your toes. I tell ya though, if some of our competition would actually take a look at the way we do some things, they could learn quite a bit. Any time that I have been in Target, K-Mart, etc, their stores just don't look as good from my point of view. They aren't laid out as well either. Some of our older stores aren't, either, but the newer ones are pretty good in my opinion.

Randall
www.truckperformance.com has both eurolite and hella conversion kits for the square and round headlights. They are more expensive than the Blazer brand at autozone, but better quality.
I have an autozone right down the street and sometimes I feel like I should be paying rent, I am there so much.... Too bad they don't have a discount club ;)
I hate Kmart, it seems like it draws the dregs of society into it's doors. I only go there if I need something really bad. I always see all of the unwashed and underclothed children running around there. :-\
I hate Wally world too, but only because I can never seem to spend less than $100 per visit.... ;D

OH NO, we are getting undercut by Wally-world!!!! Time for another anti Wal-mart rant on the open board ;D ;D

My store manager has informed his boss that if we could carry sea foam we woudl sell at least 10 bottles a week and from what he has been told other managers have done the same. Hopefully we will be selling it soon. I'll post when we do.

Chris
I tried the Silverstars in my 98 Ford, and was not all that impressed. They were BRIGHT, but still had a yellow gold color to them. I use Eurolites Fusions almost exclusively now. They are as bright as the Silverstars, and have a whiteish/blue output. I just plain like them better, especially in my euro clear headlights. Car Quest has Sea Foam here by me, and the store is first rate. I mean it feels like you're stepping back 30 years in time when you walk in there. No neon crap, no fast and furious advertisements, no BS period. Just parts and fluids, and even has a paint dept! I find myself getting more and more sick of typical "auto parts" stores lately, I just want to get quality parts, and actual help from behind the counter. This store I've found is what auto parts stores were when I used to go with my Dad as a kid. Dirty, helpful, and most of all, KNOW what the hell they're talking about. ;D,,,,Cruisin
