88 tbi 318,
has been doing this for years but i finally decided to do something about it.

under hard accleration, mostly kickdown, it starts to buck at what would seem very close to the rev limit. however does not ever over rev.

(there is this, dont know about the time snyc, but a while back 1-2 years? i noticed the little swinging door to the gas tank dissapeared. where else could it have gone except the tank.)

thoughts?

Before you even get started w/ all that wonderful tbi stuff i'd just go to napa and get a new fule pump w/ the new sock on it i got mine for about 50 bucks also get a new fule filter for 20 bucks while your at it. My rc is an 89 and it just felt over all sluggish then it got worse and worse and worse untill it was practically undriveable and if you made it kick down it would just stall. I changed out the pump and filter and it was like a whole new truck i was amased to say the least. Look at it this way even if its not the problem it will rule out alot and then once it is fixed it will be a bit faster.

chances are it is cutting out or losing spark at that rpm. It may be a problem, or it may be the way the computer keeps you fromover-revving the engine.

I know on my 93 mercury, if you rev it in neutral, it cuts out spark at about 3400 rpm to keep you from over-revving the engine, but it doesn't do it in gear...I know, I've had it to over 6000 rpm before (no redline, and the tach goes to 7500 rpm).
