Hey guys,

I remember a while back, someone talking about these bushings in the steering column. I need some for my 89 RC and went to the dealership and was told they no longer service these, and my best bet is to go to a junkyard and find one that's not worn out. Is there any alternative? It's basically right above the rag joint, and the shaft will actually move side to side inside the column. So I'm guessing there has to be some kind of replaceable bushing?

It was probably my post you are remembering, I haven't really pursued it since, but it seams the only options were a complete new column or a junkyard.
I believe Chump mentioned trying a GM dealership as they are probably the same Saginaw columns, but I haven't checked myself.

Alright, well I will check tomorrow with the GM dealer, and see what I find out.

I believe this part is called an "adapter" in GM terms. The book I have only goes to 1978 trucks so this needs a little more research. Inside this adapter would be where the bearing is installed.
