I was thinking of going to factory steel wheels.  They have to be 8 lug 16". I picked up a set of Ford wheels for cheap but they are 6" wide. 7" wide would be a little more what I'm wanting.  What width were Dodge rims from the factory?

Ford also made 16x7s- but mostly the later years like 90-98.  usually painted gray.  I'm running a set on my 93.  Very stout and the oem dodge hubcab fits.  Ford alcoa wheels from 92-98 trucks and the vans up to 2006 fit and weigh 16 lbs less per wheel than stockers. 
OEM dodge 16s are 16x 6.5 .  Narrow.  Too narrow to do 265-75-16Es without a crown

I need to clarify- the 81-93 dodge 16 inch wheels were only 6 inch wide- all of them

The 94 up steelies were 6.5

This is the style hub cap used on 89-93 trucks, but the 15 and 16 inch wheels used different size hubcaps- easy to mix up. I like htis style, not the older ones
If using a dana 60, the fronts need holes. If using a dana 44, they dont. Vans are a great source for them in the JY

Late 80's, Dodge also used the same hubcaps for the 15", with an adapter ring to fit on the 16" wheels. But I think the Dog dish hubcaps with trim rings look tons better. Just mixed if the steel wheels should be white, or black (or thinking the same color as the truck body).

Ah hah, look what I found today! My buddy and I went to Farmington NC to a swap meet and I found two hub caps for 16" wheels.  Now to find two more and 7" wide wheels.

I have a set of those dog dish hubcaps on my truck.  I dug around in the snow for over an hour up in Michigan one winter finding the fourth hubcap at the hubcap store.  It was worth having a complete set!

Good find 86w250. Yeah, these two caps aren't too good. One is pretty dinted up and the other has a strangely placed small hole drilled in it. It gives me an idea of what the TD will look like though.
