I've got an '84 Ramcharger 150. I recently bought new springs that gave it a solid two inches of lift in the rear. I wish to soon purchase 4 inch lift springs for the front. 35 inch tires are my goal. Can i do a shackle flip in the rear to get those two extra inches? Will I have to buy new mounts to do this? Should I just forget it and get blocks? Help me out here.

yeah you can do the flip to get the lift, however, when i did mine i got almost 4 inches of lift out of it. it will depend on where you mount the brackets at, i used original shackle hanger holes.

as far as brackets, all you need is a set of front hangers from the rear springs off of a parts truck.

if oyu want/need some pics of the parts let me know.

When using the front hangers from a parts truck's rear springs, were you guys able to use the factory holes (in the frame) from the old rear hangers? Or did you have to drill new holes? If so, did you have to drill 2 holes (which ones did you reuse) or 4 holes?
Pics might help explain.

The bolt pattern on the front spring rear hanger is like a big U. The top 2 line up fine I think and its the bottom ones that need to be drilled. Or is it the other way around????

It drives fine. I haven't really had it on the road too much though.

As for the holes, line up the top rear hole and then you have to drill the other three. It really helps out with the flex of the suspension. I plan on adding longer shackles too, so I think that will help overall.

as far as hole drilling, the bottom 2 holes line up with original holes, you will need to redrill top 2 holes

As you can tell it doesn't necessarily matter which holes you use as long as you do the same on each side. I was able to use two existing holes, don't remember which ones though. Make sure you leave adequate access for installing the Springeye bolt/nut. Don't want this to be a pain.
BTW this setup feels just as solid as the old. No concerns about strength or stability.

ok, when y'all refer to front hangers from a donor truck's rear springs, what are you talking about? where do they go (front or rear) after you flip the shackle? i mean, do they go between the newly flipped shackle and the spring? or what?

From the picture above you see the "hanger" as the part that is bolted to the frame. The shackle bolts onto it and the spring bolts to the shackle.
Each spring has a 'front' end and a 'rear' end right...so, all we're doing is replacing the bracket that the rear end attaches. Check out this link to get a clearer idea of the concept. http://www.coloradok5.com/ordflipreview.shtml

jake, if you look at the pics and then look under your truck it will give you a much clearer idea, the stock rear hanger is a lot different than what you see in the pic.
the ones in the pic are off of the front end of the rear springs, you will need to get these from a donor truck.
