i was trying to change the ignition switch in my steering column and ran into a problem. there's three screws holding the "bearing housing" (thats what the FSM calls it) onto the rest of the column and those screws won't budge at all! any ideas?

by the way,its a non-tilt column

Impact driver.... (screwdriver that turns the shaft CCW when hitting the end with a hammer)

A little penetrating lube wouldn't hurt either. Don't douse it or you will have a mess on all the wiring to clean up.

thanks for the advice guys. after posting this i went out and grabbed a different screwdriver from my neighbor's toolbox (most of my phillips drivers are broken) and used a little pb blaster and some muscle and they came out.
