Does anybody, (Manufacturers), make a shock that doesn't rust? In the history of time, (6 years), that I've owned my 90 RC, I've had probably 3 sets of brand name shocks on it now, and they all ended up rusting.

Most recently Pro Comps, prior to that Ranchos and the set before were Skyjackers. The current Pro Comps are 2 years old and they have spots on them that look like they're getting pretty bad, Like they could rust through and leak. My truck is primarly street driven and when it gets washed, which is quite frequently, I even wash the shocks. As part of the suspension and undercarriage, they look like crap if you don't keep after them.

I'm thinking about buying another new set of namebrand shocks, sending them out and having them powder coated. Got to be better than the the paint the guys building these things new are using... Anybody else experienced this?

Why don't you try some of that roll-on bed lining that is sold in parts stores? You could use it on your suspension and under carriage as well, and it is probably cheaper than powder coating. I doubt you could even powdercoat a shock since the heat would melt the seals and make it pop.

i had the same exact problem so i just bought a new set of bds shocks and clear coated them before i put them on. now the things dont even get dirty, you just spray them with the hose and they look brand new. plus bds test their shocks finish really well they even do a salt spray test.
