1988 RC w/ 360 4bbl and auto trans . The Q-jet doesn't seem to want to open the secondaries once warmed up and the motor semms to start hard on occasion as if the starter was week but then on another try will start fine . There also 2 electric vac switches on the passenger side fenderwell near the hood hinge and I can't seem to figure what these are for, one of the switches seems to be disconnected. There seems to be about 6 miles of vac lines on this motor are there any of the switches/ valves that may be causing the carb problems?

The carb problem more than likely lies in your choke mechanism and adjustments there. The linkage could also be gummed up and require cleaning. Once the engine warms up the secondary lock out lever in this picture should move out of the way and allow the rear throttle plates to open.


Starting problem may be a bad starter. Especially if it does this when the engine is hot. Do you have headers?

The 2 solenoids you are talking about are probably the 2 shown in the bottom R/H side in the picture below....
