We've gotten this scam several times via e-mail.

Report them to Ebay's Safe Harbor right away.

Just got the email to verify my Ebay account. Did some research on it and the original message comes from Lithuania and is routed through a server in California!!!!!{flipoff}

Please warn all your friends about this as some people would fall for this real easy! Use this address to report it to Ebay security [email protected]

It will take someone smarter than this to get in my shorts!{bigeyes}

Here's the basic Email....

Dear Ebay user,

the link actually goes to someone elase other than Ebay...even though it has an Ebay address that you can see. When you get to the wesite it looks just like the official Ebay website and asks for your name and password...once inside it asks for your credit card and other info!

Here's part of the message I just recieved from Ebay:

Hello,

Thank you for writing to eBay regarding this email you received.

After careful review we have determined that this email was not sent by
eBay. By altering the reply-to address for this email, it may appear to
have come from an eBay email address, when it actually did not. This
process is commonly referred to as "spoofing."

Please remember that eBay will never ask you for private information,
including credit card information or passwords, in an email. Also, we
will never send you to a link outside of eBay for entering credit card
or other private information. If you ever need to give us information,
we suggest that you go to the eBay home page (www.ebay.com) and follow
the links there to the site map page. By doing it this way, you can be
certain that you are giving your information to us and not to a third
party.

I got this email today. This is not ebay. It directs all responses to a Yahoo. account. The orginal email looks just like ebay. They even pull the ebay banners off of the site.

Be sure you are not using your email address as your login at Ebay. I was using "[email protected]" (my email address) for my Ebay login and this was partly to blame for the spoofs I was recieving. I changed my login name and so far all has been quiet.:)
