Should be stamped in the side of the ring gear. You can also count the number of teeth on the ring gear and divide that by the number on the pinion (I think thats how you do it :-\ )

In general, true lockers are a little bit rude in regular street driving, although a lot of people put up with the clunk lock and clunk unlock, and the occasional squealing/sliding tire that lockers can cause in turning on pavement...

Posi is generally smoother and quieter, and works almost as well in the boonies.

Check the front end gears. ::)

There is a little tag on one of the cover bolts if it hasn't been removed

Try Randy's Ring and Pinion. I've had good results with them.

That rear end oughta work fine, but it does seem a bit pricey... The "Factory Locker" is a traction aid that causes the rear wheels to both deliver power to the ground, compared to a typical front or rear end which is "open" and will spin only one tire in bad situations...

In truth, most "2x4" vehicles are actually 1x4... and most "4x4" vehicles are only 2x4... one front and one rear...

Oh yeah, installed and guaranteed $700 sounds just fine... If you can afford that and kids too, go for it !
