HAHAHA. No, I don't own and Escort. I own a Ford Focus SE because of Allen Mulally. He was the President of Boeing Commercial Airplanes and a damn good man. He got screwed out of the next CEO position there so he gave Boeing the finger and went to be the CEO of Ford. When Obama threw bailout money at the aut industry, Chevy and Chrysler took the tax payer money. Ford (Allen) said no, we don't need your money, and they came out fine. Chevy took the cash and didn't pay it all back. Chrysler sold out to Italy. So I told myself if I ever bought another American car, it would be a Ford for that reason. It is my $9K commuter car. It was cheap. Yes, it has issues that piss me off, but I'm stuck with it for now.
My F350 was a great deal on a good looking truck. '93 F350 crew cab dually 4X4 460 modified by Centurion for $5300. It was a steal. It's been a good truck but I am looking at unloading it soon. It lacks pulling power and only gets 8mpg. I can fix the power, but not the mpg. It's not cost effective to convert it to diesel. Too much involved for my limited skills.

If you lived close, I'd pay you to be my mechanic. Mine have been everything BUT reliable. I suppose if my honey-do list wasn't so big I'd have more time to play with all of them.

I was hoping it was sarcasm, my Dodge has left me on the side of the road more than any vehicle I’ve owned, granted it’s always something stupid and not major. Wish I was the guy that made voltage regulators, I’d be living high on the hog.

The 46 years I've owned my w100 it's only been on a tow truck twice. However I have been on the side of the road , out of gas many times due to the factory 18 gal tank LOL

My truck has only been on a tow truck twice in the last 11 years. Once because my ignition coil failed and the second time was when I lost oil pressure due to a poor engine rebuilder prior to when I bought my truck. Dodge's were extremely reliable all the way up to the early 80's until the lean burn and fuel injection systems showed up and then it all started going downhill from there. You simply can not get more reliable than a good ol' carburetor and a solid ignition system. I was going through aftermarket regulators like crazy until I went to the dealer and bought a Mopar brand regulator and I haven't had a problem since and that was 5/6 years ago. The factory Mopar regulators are the best. All others are junk.

HAHAHA
I look at it this way:
I need a new dependable truck with decent gas mileage.
My current truck that I pull and haul with is a 1 ton dually 460 at 8mpg. Not satisfied.
All diesel trucks are ridiculously overpriced right now. Otherwise I'd buy a Dodge with a cummins.
I rented a 2020 dodge truck with a 5.7 a few years back. I loved it. But can't afford one.
I love driving my pop tops.
So, instead of buying new or newer truck and spending $30-$90K, why not dump $10-$20K and convert the one I like to drive.
It would be cheaper yet to find a 2009 VVT or better "wrecked" Dodge (So you know the engine was running) and get the engine and tranny even cheaper.
Just a thought right now...

That was exactly my feelings also. I enjoy driving my truck so why not make it my reliable daily driver. Putting the money in it to be as reliable (and better) as a new truck is far cheaper than just going out and buying a new one AND you don't look like everyone else does out there.

lets see, the red was on the hook twice in 26 years. once the week I bought it. one of my b bodies once in 40 years. I still want my own ramp truck.

only way this would be cool would be a hairy porsche motor transplant. ya know, the way ya could when bugs were still rear engine.

So I just sold a pile of parts I'll never use for more money than they're worth to me to a guy that was happy to have them. Real happy this one is headed back into an Imperial, bonus for same year I took it out of.

Mixed emotions on the automatic load lever set-up. Offered good money but could have transplanted to a B-body. Gonna call it worth it because rebuilt the pump that the FSM says only serviced as an assembly. It's a beautiful example of Chrysler engineering and they put screws in the case for a reason.

I saw signguy97 with his massive Ramcharger on my way home today so I decided to pull a U turn and park next to him for some pictures! 👍
His truck makes my lifted truck on 35's look like a toy. Lol

You have all that black on the bottom of yours that is in the shadows. His silver body alone looks twice the size of yours. The optical illusion is in play here.
