my thoughts exactly. he needs to get a new set of motor mounts for the slant six. 2nd he needs to get another transmission in the /6 bellhousing pattern. if its an auto he needs a whole new trans. if its a manual he might be able to get away with a bell housing that will bolt on.
3rd after all those years with the Big Block in there hes gonna have to lift the rear or lower the front an be prepared for one stiff ride.
honestly if its fuel mileage or a blown engine go with a mild 318. still have to do the trans swap but the mounts an effort is easier to come across
