I've got an 87 Ramcharger with front bucket seats (I guess all R/Cs have them in the front) and the passenger seat's back just fell down (it's not adjustable, it's broken) so now I have a driver's seat and a passenger's bed in front. Thing is, I don't want to have a passenger's bed, I liked the seat better. Is there a way to fix the seat? I've checked in my Haynes and a few other sources and can't seem to find a repair method. Can I repair it, or do I need to hit the junkyards and find a better seat? ???

Easy fix dude. The stock RC seats are made of one piece of tubing that is bent upward for the verticle backing. There is a little support at that bend to keep the seat from bending and it is common for it to break off. What I did with mine was to take the seat apart. I took the main cushion off and pealed the foam and cloth back upward towards the headrest til it was far enough out of the way. The stock mounts are only like 1/4 inch round bar so I cut them off and used some 3/8th hot rolled and bent it into the same shape and welded it back in place. What you want to do before you do any welding is bend the seat back into shape. The main tube may have broken so you need to line it up and weld it back together. Once that is done you can fine tune the bending til it's just where you want it. Then weld in the braces. Be sure to let it cool down alot before reassembly. I made sure I wrapped the cloth and foam pieces on the seat with wet towels before I did any welding so they wouldn't burn. Then just reassemble and reinstall.

Really? That's something to think about.. Recline would be a definite plus.. Any idea what years? Do the NY'er seats bolt to the floor or the RC bucket mount? One would thing the NYer seats would be a little low...
