what year did they start using the little hydraulic strut to assist in lifting up the passenger seat in the rc's? i am planning to install this setup in my trail duster (and also planning to do a how-to) and know where there is a '89 ramcharger in a salvage yard. would this truck have the strut on the seat base?

well the reason i'm asking was because i found a '88 rc with that setup and for some stupid reason i decided to just buy the strut and not the whole seat base (which i should have). the yard this truck is at is kind of far away so i don't really want to make another trip out there if i can just rob the seat base out of the '89 which is in a yard thats closer. hopefully the '89 will have it though.

My 88 rc custom 100 has the strut on the passenger seat. No entry on driver's side which I would love to change. Any ideas?

maybe rig up a passenger seat base on the drivers side? hmm maybe i should put that on my project list too....
I thought about that too, but it's likely that the seat will not go all the way up to allow someone to climb into the rear seat area because the steering wheel is in the way of the driver's seat.

RXT, Don't you think at least you will be able to access your gear i.e. rifle, bow and misc other hunting and fishing gear?

Hmmm, let me think about this for a sec

Well seeing that I'm short and the truck is rather tall, I don't think I'd reach anything thats in the back while standing outside the truck ;D

Actually it depends on the seat and the steering wheel. If the seat doesn't go all the way up, it would likely be more of a hindrance trying to reach for something behind the seat while holding it up. For me, I'd just rather put things in the back where I can access it without having to mess with lifting seats out of the way.

Both my 90 parts truck and my 84 driver have the hydor assisted seat, and they are both strip down trucks. vinyl buckets, rubber floors, only option on either one is A/C. So i dont know if the hydor assist seat is a trim level type of thing.
