Looking to add a touch screen where the heater control is and relocate the control to where the current radio is...anyone on here do this yet?
Agreed. 95% of this job is going to be planning, thinking, engineering, and lots of analysis to see if it will work properly.Take lots of measurements. Know the exact measurements of the new unit your putting in before you purchase it. And what space is needed for the heater controls. Along with routing of the backside of those controls. Your going to need to fab up some sort of mounts for both the new touch screen and heater control unit.
Thinking and time involved to pull it off right.
Cheers, my truck is am '84 w150 and I am building it as a daily driver so need all modern conveniences! Just need to work out how to hook up the AC to the 2001 Magnum 5.9 compressor!
I haven't finished the truck yet, probably will have to take the dash out again in the next couple of weeks and I will take some photos of what's going on behind the plastic fascia so you can see what I did to make it work. Once you get over hacking up the OEM plastic dash its quite straightforward. I am thinking about buying another plastic surround as I could do a better job now I made the prototype.Atomic weirdo that looks exactly like what I want...
Thanks, I already rewired the engine bay but its marrying up all the piping and AC equipment that I am not sure about. I have the later compressor and serpentine belt drive but the evaporator in the cab is the original one.just start a post on "vehicle help" and ask for the wiring diagrams - thats pretty easy
