a few weeks ago i went to barry's and found a good, relatively rust free radiator support from an 85 rc. placing it next to a 74 pickup in the yard, the two were a very close match, just needed to move two bolt supports.......so i thought. i cleaned it up, rust proofed and painted it and put it on the frame. i then hung the grille on and........dammit.......the headlights didn't line up. another setback in this drivetrain update. so i have to cut out the headlight holes from each support and attach the old ones to the new support. this project has become an engineering process. will be sweet when she's done though

so i cut out the headlight openings from both supports and welded in the old cutouts to the new support. came out pretty good. not a barris worthy fabrication though, but it doesn't look like a hack job either, especially after i painted them. waiting on some tubing so i can run the trans lines, belts and hoses and charge the battery. then the moment of truth.

there used to be an article on how to mod your rad support in the same manner to use the 91-93 grilles. very bad ass. then use mexican 94 grille inserts for a factory custom.

i was gonna try to get a rad. support from a 81-up truck and modify it to work with my fenders/grill but i lucked out and got a nice one from a '79.

moving those headlight openings wasn't as hard as i thought it would be.
