Well, I don't think so. I feel that it is more of an outdoors topic due to the fact nobody will give there secret winning tip away. Topic is more geared to finding out who else races and what they race and idea's to improve your car or self.

I can sort of picture that as an "outdoor activity", though it stretches the term outdoor activity a looooot for my taste.

This is outdoor activity for you? And what are we talking about on the tech board and vehicle help? Peanut butter and Jelly? Next I hear is, working on the truck is an outdoor activity because someone doesn't have a garage. ::)

I see where you are coming from. If you don't mind, since I don't have the ability to remove the post, can you remove it?

Of course if you don't have a garage it does make working on your truck an outdoor activity. :)

I tell you what, I'll leave it on here, but keep your tech questions, the "secret" setup tips and whatnot on the tech board. Otherwise the next person comes around and says: cool, so we can talk race tech, why not questions regarding my 6" lift kit (that I want to install in my driveway), why not gun tech etc etc. and we have the whole thing going down.
If you have the urge to talk about racing in sand vs racing in mud, circle track vs. strip, what's easier or what you prefer or who else is doing it. No problem. If you say, set your suspension on the left to a softer setting than on the right because otherwise you'll be drifting too far out. Fine. If you want more technical details and solutions of how to do what and why, then post it on the tech board.
This board is brand new and we'll see how it develops and will adapt the rules for it as we go. Alright? :)

Well, it looks like I will be driving for my father on the local dirt track. It will be my first year racing in the mod mini class. As most of you have figured out from one of my other topics, I will probably be building a Drag car also. Hopefully within the year I can finish that project.

What class NHRA or IHRA? I raced brackets IHRA. I had a big block mustang. I know it's not a Mopar, but that was before I found the board.

I'm building the engine right now, but have no clue what I'm going to put it in. I'll probably do bracket racing at the local strip. Not sure if it will be NHRA or IHRA. I need to get an IHRA rulebook and see how much different the two are.

we build stock and mod 4s for dirt, but we'll race anything the owner will let us behind the wheel of. dirt is sooooooooo much more fun than asphault.

I ran a 69 Torino CJ in Pure Stock class for a couple years. E/SA. Did real well, considering Ford lied about the hp rating of that motor. The weight/hp ratio put it in the same class as small block Camaros, Firebirds and Novas. The car was capable of low to mid 12's on 9 inch slicks.

I also crewed for my high school auto shop teacher. A 70 Cuda with a 426 wedge. Ran the gas classes and then switched over to brackets. The car was capable of mid 10's, But Teach was so damn slow at the light and so inconsistent with shifts that I could almost beat him with my Ford.

Bracket racing is all about consistency. You race the clock, not each other. I work with a guy that campaigns a Chevy in brackets. The car only does 15's but it does it every time. He spends most of his time working with the electronics. Some people really enjoy that type of racing. I prefer heads up racing, where you compete against the guy in the other lane. I was at the Mopar Mile Hi Nationals last year. One of the classes featured some very cool looking altereds. I was really excited when these cars lined up. At the light they came out hard and then went straight to an idle for about half track, then back on the throttle. It was like watching the grass grow.

Well my family has 2 of 5 cars ready for this year. We have 2 more weeks to finish the other three. Lucky for me my car is done, One of my dads cars is ready the other cars are for the rest of the race team. My dad thinks he's Joe Gibbs or someone like that, This is his fourth year racing and now he has four drivers plus himself. The shop looks more like a race muesuem than anything else.
