so a couple weeks ago l started world war 3 , while suzy was in the hospital they bathed her , so when she got back to the N/H l got with the Doc , nursing staff Dir , nurse practitioner , therapy Dir , and had a meeting , they wrote standing orders that suzy was to get out of bed daily into her wheel chair , plus get showered twice a week and go to the hair dresser every other week , well so far NONE of that has happen , so l went straight to the Admin [ names, Jule / real nice guy ] and yelled at him , he went straight to the Nursing Dir and yelled at him , he went straight to the Nurse practitioner and yelled at her , she went straight to the charge nurse and yelled at her , she started yelling at the whole ward 4 staff to where two girls quit and one LPN left crying [ that was two weeks ago ] so today suzy had a appointment for the hair dresser at 10:00am , l show up at 10:45 and she is still in bed and the hairdresser is pissed , l go straight to the nursing Dir , he explains that their short staffed and he will talk to the hair dresser , l asked about the weekly showers and l told him this time be a little more tactful talking to the staff as we dont want more to quit or the screaming match from a few weeks ago , lets see what happens tomorrow
Reading your stories makes me feel sorry for all those poor people left alone in NH with no one to "fight" for their fights. That must be a true nightmare.

Take care of your wife! You're doing a great job.

Maybe you did what that place needed. A reality slap in the face. These people are here for care, not a place to sit and rot until death. My grandmother was in a rehab center / nursing home. There were elderly people there that would just sit in their chairs and stare at the wall with no visitors or family. It was sad. Keep it up Dean!

They do not have a schedule of who needs to go where when? Thats friggen sad.

I would be thinking about grabbing all the notes, and get an appointment with the state official. I am always concerned that it might make things worse, but at this point, hard to say.

so l had a meeting yesterday with the nurse practitioner and the nursing Dir and they "promised" me that today she would get out of bed and get a shower , l show up this morning and she is still in bed , l go right out to talk to the charge nurse " Bridget " [ nurse practitioner and nursing Dir nowhere to be found ] she shows me her "orders" and it's right there that suzy is to get a shower today before shift end [ 3:00 pm ] and she also promises me that it will get done /// so l get there today at 3:30 and suzy is still NOT showered and she is crying , it takes me a few minutes to figure out why , she keeps pointing to her right side and l grab the sheets on that side and l get a hand full of SHIT , her briefs are full to the point of it's down to her knees and half way up her back and squirting out all over the place , l go grab the "aids" and she go's " holy shit " it looks like she has NOT been changed all day , with the amount of SHIT it's reasonable to say that statement was true , all l saw was fukn RED , l was fukn pissed to no end , l started screaming at everyone but the charge nurse calmed me down by sayin ALL the previous shift had left and it's NOT their fault [ they just came on duty ] so l waited while they cleaned suzy up and then l went straight to the Admin's office , l get off the elevator and there he his walking by , l read him the "riot act" about calling the "visiting nurse assn" and he pleaded for me to NOT make a complaint , l said LOOK all you A-holes have been promising me shit will get done for over a week and NOTHING is happening , l told him flat out, if shit does not happen l,m making every call that they have listed [ nursing home Govt oversight agencies ] to report it , he didn't make a promise [ l told him not to ] and he said stuff would be done , so l,ll see whats up tomorrow morning

I would be taking pictures of the soiled bed linens & begin reporting these things to the state authorities AND the local news.

When my mother in law was in a NH my wife had her room equipped with internet service & a Ring camera. My wife learned a lot about the treatment her mom was getting & how truthful her mom was about things. Turns out it wasn't as bad as her mom made them out to be, but likewise they treated her shittier than they should have.

And yes my MIL was left in shit & piss for hours at a time. It was always blamed on "shift change" & being shorthanded.

NH's make me sick, especially the fancy ones who blow millions on decor & advertising yet pay what little staff they have shit wages & don't train them nor hold them accountable.

One of the best feelings I had after my parents passed was being able to tell the NH that "they are dead, you are not getting another elfing penny, go F yourselves."

after l left the NH l stopped at my buddys house and he said the same thing , l have my camera in my bag l carry just for this type of stuff , but l was so fukn MAD l just didnt think of it at the time
so l have not been posting because l,m just so fed up with this NH , l went to several other NH,s to see if l could get suzy moved and none of them have a raspatory wing , so she is stuck in the shit hole she is in , and George your right they did threaten me with moving suzy out of town to where l,d never see her but a few times a week , so l,m pretty much fukn stuck in a hole , it's been a constant battle , suzy got out of bed yesterday for the first time since she left the hospital [ 3 weeks ago or more ] and made the hair dresser appointment [ albeit an hour late ] she loved it , l got a reply back from the VNA , just say'in they got suzies app and are reviewing it and l should hear something soon , l hope and pray

The one thing you cannot do is force someone to care. You can whip someone into following procedures, but if they do not care, that will be skipped the first chance they get. Caring comes from within, but can easily be trained out by poor policies, management and training.

Not bringing politics in here, but here in Canada with government funded healthcare, they dont give a **** about you. Its nice when you break an arm and it quickly gets fixed for "free" but if you got a bad illness like cancer, well, youre usually in a very bad situation. People with money try to get healthcare in the states if they can with bad illnesses. Socialism just dont work

5/26/22 l dont know where to start , so l,ll start here , for the last several weeks suzy has been complaining about right leg pain , l check her daily and put gold bond foot cream on her feet once a week , fast forward to wednesday and l go in and the Respit dude is coming out of her room and the NEW aids are go'in in [ l thought to my self it's about time they got help ] so the "new" aids got done and even though the respit dude just left l servcie suzy's trach anyways , l got straight BLOOD out - l ran right to the nurses station and grabbed the head nurse and the Doc , they check her out and call the respit dude [ he just serviced her ] and he said he got NO blood , l told the nurse and the doc that the "new" aids had to MAN handle her , the respit dude watched her close the rest of the day with NO problems , TILL that afternoon , l show up and there is feed bag shit all over the bed and her , the the feed tube is leaking , run right out and get nurse and Doc , they call aids to clean her up and the Nutrit lady to come fix it , so l leave for the night , fukn 5:30 AM call [ my favorite ] suzy if headed to the hospital as her feed tube broke [ and NOT from her pulling on it , the Nutrit lady says it looks semi CUT or broke from age ] they made a temp repair that morning before the Amby showed up , l get to the Hospital 6:30 and they are rushing suzy to emergency surgery as apperently they pulled the tube out just a little put a slice in it and then shoved it back into her , so it was leaking internally but NOT enuf to hurt her , they change out the feed tube [ really quick too ] and get her back to the room , once there they go over suzy with a fine tooth comb head to toe / suprise suprise on suzys right leg there are BURN marks and stab wounds [ from like a Bic lighter and a pocket knife ] , bells - whistles and red lights went off and the cops came in , everyone told them she just came from the NH and thats where they went , they never came back but the NH called the ER to verify the it [ the wounds were on the under side where only "aids" could see it , as suzy is bed bound and flat on her back ] she is do,in fine and now back at the NH [ l don't want her there but don't have a choice yet ] so the NH knows whats up and they are not happy [ told them to join the crowd ] and they promised me an investigation , not holding my breath on that one - but the cops are involved now and they are contacting the VNA so lets see what happens

Dang. The drama continues. Im sorry that the both of you have to go through this.
Have the appropriate state agencies been notified, Deano?
Holly crap, I would keep on the cops. And go straight to the state, and show all your notes to everybody. I would not rely on the cops to report to the state, they are more involved in their investigation. You want the state involved while the doctors memories are still fresh. I hope they took lots of pics.

I am at a loss for words, my heart has sunk, I am so sorry to read this, hope you have more strength then I would. Take your time, and plan out your moves. Do not hit the bottle, as tempting as it is. Then get a good sleep, and go over the plans in the morning, and see if they still make sense.

Our hearts are with you.
