l,m not even gonna bother with yesterdays visit and go right to todays, so this mornin suzy is laying there in total pain with tears in her eyes holding her gut like someone stabbed her , l look at the "feed" machine and it's at 60ml and WE [ Me and the N/H staff and the Doc ] were at the agreement that suzy has a stomach problem and the FACT that she got into this condition because they were OVER feeding her at the hospital that caused ALL of this , l went right out to the nurse and told her , she came in and pulled suzies feed tube and it SPRAYED shit all over the place and her stomach went down , she was being totally over fed , the nurse took the tube out and said she would wait for the Doc to show up [ that was at 10:30 this morning ] and would NOT hook it back up , l show up at 3:30 and theres suzy again in total pain and the feed machine at 60ml [ she is only suppose to get 30ml ] l rip the fukn thing off the stand and throw it out in the hall were it smashes , EVERY -RN - LPN - AID come running in and l start screaming at them , l said look at suzy she is laying her CRYING in total pain because she is being OVER fed , l pulled the tube off and shit sprayed all over [ they ALL looked in amazement ] l screamed this SHIT is NOT gonna happen again , if she is OVER fed again l,ll call the cops and have her sent to a different N/H , this is TOTAL BS , l told them flat out l wanna know WHO ordered the feed machine to be doubled and they gave me BS answers [ maybe "dietary" maybe the Doc ] l,m go'in back first thing in the morning to check on her [ l,ll probly get arrested ]

Brutal man. Sorry this is happening to both of you. Sounds like the exact same level of care we get here in Canada now too. There is an evil spirit in hospitals these days. I swear they just want people dead because they seem to just not give a shit anymore (for the most part). You're like me Dean - swing first and ask questions later. Lol

Medical care, beyond having a private caretaker, is a damned joke. I went through similar shit with my mom. Only instead of a feeding tube it was pills. They just could not keep their act together when it came to dosage. We would get it straight & they would go right back to fucking it up. They never updated shit. Hell I'm surprised they don't dig her up my her grave to gave her more muscle relaxants or nicotine patch. And I fought the battle of THREE fronts; the hospital, the nursing home & the HomeHeathcare nurses. You'd have better luck training a squirrel to wipe it's own ass then get these caregivers to not screw up.

Well Mom died three weeks ago I doubt they have yet to figure it out, nor would they care to. But the money train has stopped, nobody is getting another dime. Fuck our heath care system.

Damm Dean. Sorry to hear that.

In this case, I believe this constitutes a no two medical errors. If not, at least two care errors. I would get notes together, including names. Then monday morning go to the head of the nursing home, present everything to them, and ask how they plan to fix it.

If you have not already done so, review your states procedures.

Don't threaten, but do throw out that you know the states procedures, so they know you will not be swept under the rug on this.

Do address these concerns with the doctor. They need to know their orders are not being followed.

Also consider getting a good pocket notebook, and take good notes every time you visit. Date/time, reading on the machines, who you talk to, and notes on what was said, especially things that are agreed to. Let them see you write it down, even if they have to wait on you for a few seconds. Hopefully if they see you are organized, they will be sure to be on the ball more.

Be smart, not bat crazy.

And most of all, be strong.

It's true, clear heads prevail. I practice my calm daily - especially in the last 3 years.
Bucky, I also know how you feel, I lost my mom in a very similar way. I was absolutely furious. We used to have the best Healthcare in the world but now I can't even get them to help with any physical therapy or parts for my wheelchair. I hope the world ends soon because I'm not looking forward to getting old in a wheelchair with this level of Healthcare that we get today. There is no more accountability. Lots of people are heartless. It's terrible.

I've been reading Dean's notes if I'm not mistaken , ? , and I'm pretty sure they could be printed out for all in a room to see ? being seen taking notes is a good idea tho ...

so yesterday morning l get there and the machine is turned down to were it should be [ 30ml ] but suzy is still laying there in pain holding her gut crying , l get the nurse , she says the machine is turned down , l tell her that suzy is plugged up and ask whens the last time she pooped , she go.s and checks and says it been awhile , l have her pull the feed tube to see what we get [ nothing sprays out ] so she grabs the large syringe to see what she can suck out and its straight stomach acid , which proves suzy is plugged up [ constipated ] from being over feed [ l had them give suzy some liquid Rolaid's ] and the nurse said they would either do a suppository or enema

the afternoon visit was a little better as suzy past GAS earlier and was feeling much better

When my Dad had a feeding tube I would shoot him a dose of water from time to time, just to prevent, or at least lessen, constipation & dehydration.

You can make your own quality homemade tube-feeding goo, Deano, or maybe try some of these off-the-shelf brands...

Suzy's digestive system is still screwed up from all those antibiotics so getting the right bacteria back into her guts will help. :)

the machine suzy is hooked to has the feed bag and a bag of water [ saline or whatever it is ] that turns off the feed and pumps in 15ml every hour and then switches back to feed
so yesterdays visit was OK and suzy was feeling great as she got her hair washed again and was in her new wheel chair [ therapy found arm rests that are "troth's" to keep suzy's arms from falling to her sides ] but they are still not feeding her yet , l,ll find out this morning what's go'in on

so the morning visit was good as suzy was feeling good , but hungry [ they weren't feeding her yet ] and l went and asked and the AID said they are waiting on the order to hook it back up , so just as my visit was ending they came in to hook it back up

so l,m home getting ready to leave for my afternoon visit and the phone rings [ caller ID says N/H and l cringe every time they call and dread the worst about suzy ] it,s the "nursing director" letting me know they are gonna move suzy to a new room and that they "know" l told them NOT to move her without me being there , he said they would wait till l got there [ told him l,d be there in a half hour ] he called at 2:40 and l showed up at 3:12 , l,m standing there at the nurses station and the Doc comes over and says "WE moved your wife to a new room" l said WHAT !!!!! you were suppose to wait till l got here , and she go's we were and says we didnt know anything about that , l told her the "nursing director" called me and said you would wait , she said she was never told , [ l was fukn pissed and said where is suzy ] so they bring me down to her and she is FREAKING right out and want me to calm her down because they are having a hard time hooking her back up to all the stuff , l said you friggin MO RON's this is the reason that l was suppose to be here for , l said you "idiots" caused this problem and walked out into the hall , the Doc follows me and says you gotta help us calm her down and then admits she did know about waiting but the "transportation dudes" were leaving at 3:00 , and they wanted to make the move today and not wait till tomorrow , l scoff and say why didn't they/you call me sooner [ deer in the headlights look from the Doc ] l shake my head and go in and get suzy smoothed out and calmed down , they get her all hooked up and leave , well she was not happy with the room at all , as it's North facing [ No sun shine and a dark room ] suzy is a SUN loving person

l wanna publicly apologize to Lanty and say l,m sorry

SIDE story / Suzies new roommate is a real nice lady , she has been on a trach tube for 11 years and says she knows more the dip shits that do it [ her words not mine ] she said she will talk to suzy [ get her to calm down and relax ] about the trach tube and the "speaking" valve [ this lady talks and eats like she does not even have one , but it's there ] this women is 77 years old and had a car accident to cause her problems , she won the case and even though she is set for life she is still in a N/H , her kids got all the money which she is happy about , but she got double medical payments for life in the settlement , me and suzy sat there for hours today listening to her talk , she is a very SHARP woman / so long story short l asked her to talk to and coach suzy on the trach , suzy has a "swallow" test coming up and it's NOT easy
