I am desperate for an answer now...I acidently contaminated my vacum system with gas now of course trk won't run...360's a 1975 trks an 86. I just realized this about 20 mins ago. Distributors a vac advance. I inadvertinly hooked a vac line to an outlet on the carb :mad:Any ideas on what I should do?

hook it back to the normal port an use some starting fluid. see if that works. should clear out although im wondering if the gas will do something to the Vaccumm diaghram in the distributor.

now to have vacumm there has to be suction or a low pressure area. thats what your engine does. it creates low pressure in the cylinder an opens a valve to let air fuel mixture in. you vaccum lines contents (in your case gas) feeds to the intake manifold an eventually to the cylinders.

reconnect the line to the right port an crank it up

I've done that before. Should be able to just hook the line to a vacuum source and suck the gas out.

Check the ballast resister for voltage at both poles

on the big blown up pic. behind the carb on the manifold there is a little "tree" that is the vacuum port for AC an other crap. dont put the dist line there.

look on the carb. in the middle of the carb there is a port on the base. you can see it plain as day on this pic. hook it too that!

but thats a carter an you have a holley. crap. ill take a pic when i get home

You don't want to get actual gas into your charcoal cannisters. This will ruin the cannister. It's designed for gas vapors and not gas.

I think something happened coinkydinkily.. The vacuum advance diaphragm can't suck out any gas, nor will any port on the carb spew forth any gas... Even if it did, nothing you did to the vacuum system would affect the electrical ignition. While you were tinkering, did you maybe knock one of the spades off the ballast resistor? or maybe (duh) the coil wire? Or break one of the leads to the coil, or the distributor pickup(s)? Check those first before you go tearing into anything.

Are you using the distributer from the 86 or the 75. You will have to use everything from the 86 or the 75 for it to work.
