Will an NV5600 trans fit on a Magnum or LA block? Thanks.

If you can find the right bell housing. Currently its only available with the cummins and it has a different bell housing pattern.

The 5600 bell unbolts but it is also the front cover for the tranny, not a simple job to take it off and bolt on another bell, even if another bell pattern was available. 5600s are not side or top loaders, they load from front and back(mostly back).

So would an NV4500HD be a better choice? Would it fit behind the Magnum or LA? I have a few ideas on making a "fairly stout" 93 RC. How much horsepower and torque would the 4500 handle? What about a NP435?

I believe there are a couple of aftermarket companies which could mount an NV5600 to just about any engine but it won't be cheap.
The 4500 was more widely available, and yes it will stand up to anything your engine can dish out.

Great but what will it bolt to? I need to put one behind a Magnum 360.

The 4500 is the 435 with overdrive. The 435 is real cheap, bulletproof, and you can find them anywhere behind a 318 or 360. The BB's will have a different bell. The 4500 is a lot more expensive and not as common, but the OD is a definite plus. I'll have a 435 for sale this summer or fall, once I do my framework and lift on my 89, if you're interested.

The 4500 is not a 435 with overdrive. Many big differences in these tranny's but both are very strong.

Sorry, I should have said "basically"... I know it's not THE same, but it's pretty close... It (4500)had a choice of 1st gears, the same 2nd, 3rd and 4th as the 435, then the OD. And with the exception of being a little longer (shorter driveshaft), it's supposed to be a bolt-in swap.
