I have a 77 power wagon with a 203 case and the shifter is loose i adjusted the shifter as per the fsm and noticed the shifter body is loose

it looks to have 2 large pins holding it to the bracket and no way to tighten it. does anyone know how to fix this problem? can u weld it to the bracket?

thanks ;D

shim washers are the only way / but if you leave it loose it wont hurt nuttin / just drive you nuts

where do the shims go? in between the shifter and the bracket or in between the shift plates?

it seems the whole shifter body is loose on the bracket

thanks
it is a design flaw, all of the 203 shifters i have ever seen have been this way.

about the only way to fix it is to fab up your own shifter. i am eventually going to do this, but i needed to get my engine finished first.

like it was said, it aint gonna hurt anything being loose, just drive you nuts
