I may know a lot, but automatics, I don't know very well.

What's the most likely cause of no reverse in a 727A ? :\'(

The bands are not broken, and the servo pistons appear OK... ???

Never mind, the clutch drum snap ring broke, which allowed the clutch pack assembly to drift, which allowed the piston behind the clutches to overextend, which cut the seal, which caused a loss of operating pressure... QED

Well, automatics are mighty nice when it comes to edging over rough terrain, one foot on the brake and one on the gas... So, I'll patch this one.

Broken ring didn't show until we got the pump and clutch pack out...

Which allowed the clutch pressure plate to get sideways and/or extend beyond the edge of the surface this seal runs against... Which cut the seal

Well, since I'm left with a spare BB 727A on the garage floor, missing a certain snap ring... I think I'll build it "your way" so that the next time the truck tranny dies, I'll have a nice new "killer" version ready to go in !

That's about all to do, other than get the front drive shaft rebuilt...

I haven't used the intake yet... but the headers are in place. I'll write up a how to on the header install after I get the trans all hooked up.

Unfortunately, we had already planned (I'm Co-Chair organizer) an ALL '60s High School reunion for the same weekend RCC later chose for RamJam, so I'll miss this one.

Thats just fine with me. BUT!, I am not one of those serious yahoos, that'd be Trenton and Flake. I am more of a moderate yahoo. I'm just as happy on easier trails (sometimes happier :p).

Lol, me too. I don't have much experience rockcrawling, and I am not sure what I will be taking over there. At that time I will have a 1 month old and the other two kids. Luckily my other two love off roading ;D Too bad the wife doesn't :-\
I would certainly love to play at Moab though.
