I removed my stock manifold today to replace it with my new Offenhauser 360° dual plane. I did run into a couple of issues, one should be easy enough to fix, the other has me scratching my head.

The first, the coil now sits lower then it did on the original manifold so it hits the distributor. Easy enough fix is to move the coil or to intall spare coil (a Mallory) on the firewall where it was on the RC.

The bigger problem is the water outlet to the bypass hose. Its smaller then the one it is replacing. Before the inlet on the pump and the outlet on the manifols were the same, now the hose obviously wont fit. There is enough metal to tap it out to install a bigger outlet, but with the manifold being installed, I dont want to risk the aluminum shavings (and I dont have a tap that large). Did different years have a different hose?

The truck its going on its a `77 ClubCab with a factory 2bbl 360.

Ok, so three issues.

Do we have a timed vacuum port or a full vacuum port for the distributor. My old carb was so trashed that the truck would flood out before reaching operating temp so I couldnt check it.

Ok, that makes me feel better. Try removing the old fitting though. Its impossible!
Not impossible just a pain. If men can walk on the moon then the fitting will come off-I'm sure of that.

HAHAH, dude I just did this same thing on Saturday. I'm putting in a 360 in place of a 318 on an '82 4x4. Went with the edelbrock intake, and the parts store didn't have the proper fitting in stock and this huge story about how they hadda order it, and it'd be here in 2 weeks... yada yada yada... (B.S. if you ask me..) hadda bust out the cutting torch and heat the intake and outlet f-o-r-e-v-e-r... almost to the point of accidentally cutting it.. then with a pair of vice-grips I jumped on them, and finally broke the original free... back breaking work... As far as the vacuum, I'm thinking full vaccum port.. but I'm not positive I understand the question, check a haynes or a chilton.. Standard vac advance man, is what I think it should be from 76 to like 84 or so.

I tried the penetrating lube (sat overnight), I tried an easy out, I tried heating it, I tried breaker bars. Even combinations of the things I tried, nothing. I even tried to stand on it but with mine being installed that is quite difficult.

Worse comes to worse, you could cut a length of rubber hose that would fit between the smaller outlet and the too-big hose, and act as a bridge between them...a seal of sorts. All seated, tighten her down and fugittaboutit!

Listen just cut it and take it out already, cut it in half length wise hammer it in on itself and be done with it already, then put never seize on the new one

You want ported vacuum for the distributor. It should be one of the higher small ports on the carburetor.
