After reading M-E-T's post, I realized that it would be cool to hook up with some people on my way to RJ.

Anyone going from the North East, let me know. I have AAA, so I will be getting a TripTik, but I can swing out of the way to convoy up.

I will be bringing my 4 y/o son, so driving straight though is not an option. Besides, I'm not as young as I once was and I need my beauty sleep. We will be camping at RJ, so we will be opting for campsites on the way down. Even if there's some members who aren't going, maybe you could let us take a spot on you ground for a night if we pass close by.

I think I can do a Trip Tik online, so I'll try that later on today and get a general idea of the route I will be taking.

I will be driving straight through if I dont have the family along.If the family decides to come we will be driving straight through to Memphis TN then straigh through to Alto TX. weith maybe a short stop in Arlington TX depending on what time of day it is to visit a friend. a very short stop perhaps an hour or so.

AAA takes me through Knoxville. I guess there's not too many people going from the NE. I'm thinking of taking 2-3 days travel time. It's been over 10 years since I travelled x-country, and then it was a hurried trip. I want to enjoy it this time.

I like to enjoy it to thats why I dont map it out.I'll look at the map and know the roads but remeber how the grizwolds vacation turned out when they mapped it out on a computer.LOL
seriously when im on vacation I hate to look at a map.Kids usually enjoy that.see something different on the way to the destination.
Plus I dont trust AAA I usually have to correct them...lol

Coop, It was about 14 hours for me to get to Tellico. Granted, it's in the middle of nowhere, (interstate wise) But thats probably LESS then 1/2 the distance you will be driving. It was about 900 miles for me. You might want to add a day to your plans.

It "SAYS" under 30 hours. each way. Figure with the little one(s) about 36 hours each way. (from here)
This MIGHT be do-able!!!! I will do some more checking and see what I can come up with.
Any idea on $$? I am coming up with $430 from here EACH WAY!?!?! (1720 miles, 215 gallons @ $2.00 per, <by then>) Hmm, time to go to IM's I think! lol

Hey Chris, I'll see about AIM so we can talk. I work 8-7 today (13th) and 6-6 tomorrow so it may not be till Mon.

I just did it on the Yahoo map. It says 1987 mi. 30 hrs 34 min. I plan on 3 days down. I can adjust for the trip back. On the trip to BB's, my son did real well travelling. We stopped every 3 times on the way down for short stretches and bathroom breaks. At BB's, he ran and played with BB's dog ao he stretched even more then. I figure on a half hour break every 8 hours or so. I want him to enjoy the trip, so we'll take it easy.

As far as gas, I haven't even thought about it yet. It may be scary. I need to see what the mileage in my RC will be.

I plan on staying in campgrounds while travelling (and at RJ) and also not eating at restaurants but packing food and resupplying at supermarkets. I'm going to bring a cooler for perishables along the way.

I just did a calculation for my van and I came up with 409 dollars for the round trip @ 14 mpg 2.00 per gallon

Well coop Iam 12 hrs from Boston ( I 've drivin it in 10) and Iam right between I 90 and I 76 so it may be a good stopping place?
There's a spare room and 2 couches if you need them. Iam not going the boss told me NO! And I can't argue with the boss ITS ME. Thats the hardest time here Everyone moving out Aug 1st and moving in the last week of aug. so paint,carpet and repairs all have to be done it 30 days on ruffly 150 Apartments. Its a 45 day madhouse here. But I can take 1/2 a day and hang if you like. Sept. 15th I always take a week or two to catch my breath.
