Hi, my name is Jake and my truck is a 1988 Dodge Dakota 4x4, it has a lot of miles but still runs perfectly. The only problem it has is the gm Saginaw steering column which had developed the typical loose and floppy tilt assembly. When I started taking it apart I quickly realized that I wasn't the first person to attempt this repair...
To make a long story short, a new steering column is going to be in order.
To be honest the construction and design of the general motors steering column left a bad taste in my mouth. What are my options for aftermarket columns on this truck? Or should I just get a stock replacement and hope it doesn't come loose like my old one?
Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
