First, i know very little about ac systems. When i had bought my truck (85 D350 dually) the owner had told me that one of the ac hoses was split. Well it is the one that goes from the compressor to the firewall. He did a really good job of wrapping it up. I was looking at how hard it would be to remove the hose to replace it, i am going to switch from to r12 to 134a because it doesn't appear to be anything left in the system, and i find a wire laying across the hoses that looks as if it was broke. The wire goes to the ac compressor. Where does the other end go? I am clueless. Someone please help. ???

Thanks for the e-mail, it does help. It shows the wire coming from the compressor and going to a black plug, I just need to figure out where the black plug is. I really need a damn fsm.

It should be a 2 wire connector, and it connects to a harness that comes from the engine harness.

I guess somebody pieced mine together. I don't see any plugs anywhere. I have one wire coming off the compressor and that wire is pretty long. The way it was laying, it almost looks as if it should go through the firewall near the condensor. I wonder if it hooks up behind the glove box or something? I'll pull the whole truck apart if i have to. I want some ac. ;D

You might need a new compressor then... There should be two wires coming out in a short pigtail to a connector. They connect to a long pair of wires that run back to a two pin connector that comes out of the engine/ignition harness, just above the passenger side valve cover. From there they split, one goes to the big connector on the drivers side and to the dash controller, and the other one goes to the a/c cutoff switch by the expansion valve (on the firewall).

I pulled out my glove box to see if i could find anything. Next, i decided to pull out the ac box under the dash. The only reason i haven't done this yet is because i thought the heater box and heater core had to come out too, but it doesn't. After i pulled it out, I found a broken wire the same gauge and color as the one that goes to the compressor. It leads up behind the glove box to a blue colored box mounted to the firewall. I haven't turned anything on yet because i didn't think it was good for it with no fluid in the system. Thanks for the help. :)
